Ice,

I disagree generally with your observations about rumor control.

IO has been consistenly conservative in its forward-looking statements - justifiably concerned that they might move the stock in some direction and thereby provoke a Learach-type lawsuit.

Why, then, should it surprise anyone that, in regard to rumors - where the potential to mislead and provoke a suit is greatest - Iomega chooses to remain silent?

And once you have a policy of not responding to rumors, you must keep to it: If one incident causes you to 'break silence', that action - regardless of content - would be seen aas extraordinary - giving further credence to that rumor.

Anyway, there is no gain in clarifying a rumor - only huge downside. Why waste energy and resources on such issues?

IO is smart to let it all slide.
