I have bought several PC's since P4 came out. The presence of P4 made me view PIII as unattractive (though I did buy one.) I never seriously considered buying a P4, because it was too expensive.

I doubt that the thought process I went through in the store was much different from many other buyers.

BTW: I have been maxing out my 700MHz Duron systems, running typically at 100% CPU utilization. Most of the utilization is from downloading web content.
