A browser is simply a viewer by another name. I agree that standards are necessary and best handled via open methods. In this case the standards are HTML, Java, ActiveX and VisualBasic, a browser just reads and formats a display, much like a Postscript or PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat.

This reminds me a lot of IBM vs Microsoft, in that case IBM choose to ignore the upstart. In contrast Microsoft has been stirred from slumber and chooses to fight. I recall a line from the movie "Tora Tora Tora" - I believe we have merely awoken a sleeping giant!

For that re-awakening, I thank Netscape dearly, but I'd prefer to be on the winning team when it comes to my investment dollars.

>I also think the apps are up for grabs. MS Office is only a chapter in a never ending story.

I was thinking more towards BackOffice, to supply this "new" paradigms data.
