Christine Callies, chief U.S. investment strategist at Merrill Lynch, told clients in a research note that she thinks "we are seeing many key ingredients for a selling climax in the next few days." She said one prominent characteristic is the concern that a financial system "dysfunction" would lead to a liquidity freeze, which would in turn encourage global central banks to begin supporting the financial markets.
