If the material is not useful, people will move on.

Hi Teresa, the above statement is the reason why alot of people never renew their membership to SI ... they don't want to pay to read unpaid for advertising or some stock promoter hyping a stock without revealing their true purpose for being on SI.

Alot of the information you provide I would not consider advertising but actually useful information and I think you are smart enough to know where the line is and not to cross it. Unfortunately "another guru" seems not to know where to draw the line and almost every post is a come on for her pay site and I find her thread a complete waste of time.

I have some real issues with the way SI is set up and the kinds of subscribers it has catered to in the past and as a business person I have to say if they don't change their tune they will continue to have a declining subscribership. I really don't think they are interested in figuring out how to fix this problem but instead would rather find a different way to bring in revenues.

So if you don't bring in revenues from individual subscribers where do you get them from? One of the main areas they will have to focus on is advertisers or licensing their technology out to other web sites.

Lola:)

P.S.: the so called "thread police" ARE the paying users of SI and yes they are outraged at some of the free advertising they have had to put up with as paying members.
