The only answer that Mark Fitzgerald, B of A Securities, had for us was that it would be "several quarters". That leaves it ambiguous enough that we can supply our own numbers. Whatever the "right" number is, Fitzgerald said it will be another 3 to 6 months for the optical sector to bottom. As far as the group of 31 semi equips I follow, they bottomed on 11/30/00. It remains to be seen if that is the "final" bottom on this cycle, or is there to be another lower bottom in the near future prior to the inevitable rebound to new highs for this group. Don
