Assuming they increase market share in the overall storage market, it does not follow that they meet expectations for 2001 EPS. NTAP may get a bigger slice of a smaller pie (smaller in 2001 only). Right now, companies are not asking whether they should buy NTAP or EMC storage products. They are asking whether they should (or can) buy anything.

I am in no hurry to buy. If they make their numbers this year, I'll probably just watch and wait, and wait some more, and wait too long. But, if the scenario I expect plays out, I'll be buying this stock very cheap sometime this year. NTAP in single digits is not unlikely. So, it's a win-win. If I don't buy the stock, all I've lost is opportunity, not money.
