Maybe I don't respect your beliefs (whatever they are). So what? Do you respect the beliefs of pedophiles? I doubt it. But since I commented, not on your beliefs but only the notion of certainty to Solon (and that only in passing reference), this seems pretty irrelevant. You might not respect my beliefs (if you knew them or looked them up) and it wouldn't bother me one bit. I've argued with people that think only humans are capable of something called thought or reason or abstraction or that even a utopian philosophy like as espoused by Marx isn't necessarily evil and I'm not a Maxist! I doubt I've changed their minds. But you know, they aren't the people that we influence, it is those whose minds aren't made up.
When people make strong and certain statements about politics, reality, time-space, science, philosophy, religion, race, society, morality and such, they tend to be wrong. This is even true in science. Truth is discovered in small metered steps by repetitive confirmation not convictions from fixed POVs. We're all here just trying to figure this out. At least I am.
If you want to share your thoughts and beliefs - go ahead. If not, please, spare us the hurt feelings, huh? Not really suitable for this thread, right?
