Neocon, we essentially agree until you get into the tax cut and defense buildup justification. My view is that it is the primary responsibility of Government and government leadership as you said to ensure a degree of stability and predictability in economic activity while focusing on creating economic growth. So far, the current Administration has totally missed the mark.

When did the term tax cut signify growth for the economy. Tax cuts or tax increases when appropriate should be used to make the economy stronger. I submit that the tax cut is an end of it's own the economy be damned as to whether it will help or hurt. Further there will be no surplus this year to cut taxes from.

As for defense, why do you give the job to the Europeans to help us in the future. Are you proposing the Asians are the enemy. I personally, think we should be working hard with the Chinese to promote economic and military harmony. Finally, we still can't find the enemy, so why do we need to build up defense spending.

And the markets keep going straight south, do you think they are sending a message to Washington
