<<How does GZTC ensure sterility of its milk?>>

I don't know the specific techinques used, but they are similar to the methods used for other recombinant proteins. It's an interesting question, which I will research when I have time.

<<3) Is there any concern about passage of BSE via milk, either between transgenic animals or in the product? What steps prevent introduction or passage of BSE?>>

It's called scrapie in goats. We obtained a herd of goats from New Zealand, where scrapie does not exist. The goats were fllown to the U.S. (coach, not first class) and have been kept in isolation ever since -- no contact with wildlife or other farm animals. They receive special feed that is either produced on GZTC's farm or obtained from certified feed suppliers who adhere to strict practices to prevent contamination.

The entire animal enclosure is operated like a semi-clean room. Suppliers' and visitors' vehicles are not allowed into the facility, and visitors on foot must wear shoe covers.
