Nextera Wins NBC Studios Assignment to Deploy PeopleSoft to Track Costs, Investment Return More Accurately for Individual TV Shows
Latest in a Series of Cutting-Edge Solutions for Big Four Network by Nextera
BOSTON, Mar 15, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Nextera Enterprises Inc. (Nasdaq: NXRA chart, msgs), a management consulting firm with deep competencies in economics, strategy, human capital and technology, announced that NBC Studios has chosen its Technology Solutions Group to deploy PeopleSoft's Web-based financial accounting system. The new system will allow the company to more accurately track its costs and return on investment for individual TV shows, an increasingly critical function to NBC Studio's operations.

With the PeopleSoft 8 implementation -- specifically, the General Ledger and Project Accounting modules -- NBC Studios will be able to reduce the number of financial applications used to support operations and improve interfaces among multiple systems for a more seamless flow of data.

"NBC wanted to improve its ability to match revenue with show costs, pinpointing program profitability," said Howard Joyce, a principal in Nextera's Los Angeles office. "We assessed NBC Studios financial operations and proposed this solution to greatly streamline their portfolio of financial applications and enhance their data management, using PeopleSoft as the enabler."

Through its Technology Solutions Group, Nextera brings a proven track record assembling, customizing, and implementing solutions across a wide range of proven software packages such as PeopleSoft. Added Joyce, "NBC Studios chose Nextera because we understand their financial needs and also have the reputation and methodology for application design and execution."

Nextera has completed approximately 20 projects for NBC over the past six years. Other engagements currently under way for NBC involve the design of web-based applications that focus on managing and tracking shows through their product life cycle -- potential syndication. The Nextera-led projects are part of the "Digitization" initiative that is under way by NBC and its parent company, General Electric. They are intended to improve NBC's show and talent management by streamlining reporting, increasing cost efficiency and saving time.

"We are proud to continue and extend our relationship with NBC," said David Schneider, Nextera's president and chief executive officer. "Nextera's comprehensive approach to solving complex problems, coupled with our ability to implement technology, our knowledge of Six Sigma methodology and our experience in financial best practices, make us uniquely qualified to work with NBC."
