I am greatly amused at the sheer number of messages on this and other boards that utter the complaint that 'Greenspan has damaged the economy and/or the stock markets.' All jokes are based in some form of irony and this, is no different. A year ago, caught in the thrall of seemingly ever-rising corporate profits and stock prices, the same number of posts said, 'Greenspan is irrelevant in the new era so we need not concern ourselves with rising rates and shrinking money supply.' My goodness! How could he possibly hurt the fiber optic build-out? <g>

One is left wondering how many who wrote last year's message are authors of today's.
