20 claims independent of "bus" definition.
The Infineon suit references 4 patents, as found at: rambusite.com
The U.S. patent numbers are: 5953263 5954804 6032214 6034918
I have searched the claims for any reference to the word bus. I am not a lawyer, and so, I have provided links to the information so you can inspect the claims and check my count.
In the worst possible interpretation of the meaning of "bus" in the claims, what would be left?
For US05953263, delphion.com 33 claims; 13 use "bus", 20 don't use "bus"(claims: 1, 4-13, 18-26)
For US05954804, delphion.com 26 claims; 26 use "bus", 0 don't use "bus"
For US06032214, delphion.com 37 claims; 37 use "bus", 0 don't use "bus"
For US06034918, delphion.com 38 claims; 38 use "bus", 0 don't use "bus"
So, by my count, 20 claims survive the worst case decision of the court. In my opinion, these claims DO represent IP that is used in both SDRAM and DDR. Remember, it's not a ball game, so don't score the claim count. A single claim may represent infringement by the defendant.
For example, the most general claim that does not depend on the definition of "bus" is US05953263, claim 1: "A synchronous semiconductor memory device having at least one memory section which includes a plurality of memory cells, the memory device comprises: a programmable register to store a value which is representative of a delay time after which the memory device responds to a read request."
