I don't know if I could give you a number, a specific percentage that would be unjust. But I think any high level of taxation is unjust. To an extant I think any taxation is unjust, but some level is necessary to prevent anarchy, and other government spending if properly directed in the right areas can produce benefits that it would be hard to duplicate through the private sector. I don't think that government has a special morally privilged status. If it is wrong for me to come to your house and take your money to support what I see as a good cause then it is wrong for the government to do so. However I recognize the practical benefit that a government can give and so I am perhaps willing to overlook a low level of taxation to avoid doing without these benefits. If you could have a stable non-violent anarchy I might be an anarchist, but I don't think you can have such a system actually work, atleast not for a whole country.
