Hi pompsander; Who benefited is definitely at issue here.
A not very well known fact is that TeamDDR was started by a small group of stock traders who shorted RMBS a few months after the IPO. When their positions went against them, they decided to create a whole (fake) industry devoted only to causing problems for Rambus. If it weren't for their close connections to a few key players in both the Republican and Democratic parties, they wouldn't have been able to keep the scam going as long as they have.
First of all, Micron doesn't actually make any chips. Of course they're not supplying any RDRAM, and never are. Who would dream of building a chip factory in Idaho, for G-d's sake? All they've ever done is repackage or even just remark DRAM imported from the Far East. I won't spell out where they get their stuff, but let's just say that the citizens have yellowish skin there, and you'll know who I mean. By illegally importing this high tech contraband, Micron avoids the need to pay duties. This is against the law, and it's putting red blooded Americans out of work, even as you read this. Complain to your congressman!
Of course you already know that the most of the tech media is in on the deal. It's obvious, they report all kinds of DDR news that's totally bogus, while ignoring RDRAM systems shipping to real customers like your local school district. Think about that, Compaq (owned by a certain US ethnic group with strong ties to the middle east) puts out a fake PR that they now are selling DDR and it gets repeated everywhere. Your local elementary school buys 20 P4s, and nobody cares!
You already know about Infineon and Micron, but Hyundai is the worst. They've got secret agents all over this country and abroad, and what's worse, they're driving around in cars blatantly marked. When you see one of those Hyundai's on the road behind you, you can be sure they're following you around using the tracing device that they surgically implanted in your nose. Get off the road in a crowded, well lit area, and run like hell.
You want to see vicious, find out what happens when you try and order one of those Compaq DDR machines. First, they likely will never send it to you, they're just trying to wait you out. Then, they'll send you a system with SDRAM modules wired up to look like DDR, and if you complain, they send out black-clad ninjas to kill you. And it looks like you died of overwork syndrome, so the police don't get involved. Don't even get near those guys.
Nvidia, VIA, ALi, SiS and Serverworks are all fake fronts for TeamDDR, no need to go into that. But you probably didn't know that Intel has a few TeamDDR cells lost in its labyrinthian corridors. Sure, Intel is long RMBS over all, but there are a few divisions that have struck out on their own and are short the stock, just like the the rest of the cabal. Top management at Intel is trying to fix this, their hearts are in the right place, but Intel is big, and it takes a while to locate a rogue division.
Rumor has it that the US Court in Virginia, in addition to a lot of court reporters and judges, is short RMBS, so don't be too surprised when the bad rulings come down. Don't worry, the Supreme court is still virgin pure, and will uphold Rambus' truth and honor in the end.
