Jim, I don't read too much into the AT&T's willingness to test CIEN's systems. As long as Ciena is willing to supply the units to AT&T for laboratory testing, If you are AT&T, why not check them out?, get nothing to lose. I think the whole thing could just be a decoy to soften the impact of the upcoming secondary offering. AT&T has purchased in excess of $100 million of WDM proprietary equipment from Lucent. Does AT&T really need two vendors, two systems? Sounds like it would complicate things more. Just like the MultiWave 1600 was built to Sprint's spec's, LU is supplying the equipment most suitable and compatible to AT&T's network.

Regarding WorldCom, you are correct that their contract with Ciena is non-exclusive.

Regards,

Tom
