In ten years the cost to mail a first class letter will probably be well over a dollar. Anyone want to bet that the rate for bulk/junk mail won't go up anything like that amount? Anyone want to bet that bulk/junk mail is the real profit center these days and that rates on first class are what they are partly to discourage people from using it too much?
