An idea was just posted on Dream Machine thread addressing your decision. The suggestion was that since disk storage prices have fallen so low, it would be reasonable to install a new disk before loading a new OS. That way, the OS would have the benefits of a clean installation, and if something went seriously wrong, the original disk can be recalled into service in a matter of minutes.
