Impco Technologies Inc. (IMCO) said near-term growth and prospects for its core business remain "very strong and favorable." The company recognizes the current downturn as a short-term event and expects growth to restart in the next quarter.
Revenue from Impco's core business fell $4.4 million, or 16.6%, from a year ago. The company attributed the decrease to a slowing worldwide economy and uncertain energy prices. The company added that unfavorable foreign currency exchange rates hurt revenue by $1 million.
