Calling a zygote an "innocent human life" is a religious position. The zygotes don't have much of an opinion one way or the other, by most conventional definitions of "opinion".

My belief on this is not faith in a deity, nor is it related to religious observance. I'm not sure you could say that I am scrupulously faithful and fervent about it, but even assuming I am, is it your contention that any idea that is held fervently by someone should automatically be exclude from political consideration? I assure you that I am not a member of a religious order under monastic vows so that definition does not apply.
The zygote is innocent and it is human and is is alive. It is dependent on its mother but it is not part of the mother. All of this has nothing to do with religion. Also we are not just talking about zygotes. Would you contend that a fetus at 8 and one half months is not an "innocent human life"?
