Conversion Experiences

Archie,

>"Such erudition, masterfully articulated."

Gee, thanks. Somehow nobody ever says things like that
when it's time for my annual salary review (which is what
has driven me to take my own financial future in my hands
by this crazy stock stuff). Be careful, though. Praising
lecture-addicts only feeds their habit.

Yes, most change is incremental. I'll buy that. But
people come to _notice_ it, and to change their behavior
accordingly, in lurches. That's what the word "epiphany"
is all about. The classic example is the Biblical one
of Saul of Tarsus, on the road to Damascus, converting
instantly to Christianity when he is struck off his
horse and then goes on to become St. Paul in the Christian
Church. According to the Oxford English Dictionary,
the first use of the word "world-view" in the English
language occurred in 1858 in reference to St. Paul.

May the unbelievers in Iomega convert soon.

Cheers, Tom
