WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Shareholders of PetroCorp Inc. (PEX) and Southern Mineral Corp. (SMOP) on record as of the close of business March 26 may take part in the vote April 25 on the companies' proposed merger, according to an amended registration statement filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

PetroCorp's meeting will take place in Tulsa, Okla., at 1 p.m. local time.

Southern Mineral's meeting will take place in Houston at 9 a.m. local time.

PetroCorp signed a definitive agreement to acquire Southern Mineral for $4.71 a share in cash, PetroCorp stock or a combination of both. Under the deal's terms, PetroCorp won't be obligated to issue more than 4 million or less than 3 million common shares. The merger is expected to close by April 30.
