wonder how many folks are on variable vs. fixed? I guess when I get a little closer to having my mortgage paid off in a few years -- if rates are a lot lower, I might take a gamble, but just going into the thing, if one has a reasonable expectation of staying for a while -- I don't see why someone would take the risk -- scratch that -- I do know why they would -- to get a bigger house than they really can afford. Wonder how many are in the situation that they'd be in default in a few months if they get laid off -- I bet the number is pretty high don't you?
