P/E in what time frame? Everybody's looking quarter-to-quarter, just a three month time frame in a lifetime of investing in a company.

Gads, people, given today's reference points, a hypothetical company growing at 1000% annually but having a single quarter of stagnation -- for whatever reason -- would be annihilated in the stock market. People are betting big stakes on just 12 weeks of sales. Is this investing, rampant speculation, plain gambling, or irrational unexuberance? Sure, it's going to take more than 12 weeks for things to get straightened out, but geeeesh...
