(Here's the proper place for this...) tb on g&k: someone's been reading too much Pynchon... While spending seven heavily-drugged days in intensive care three years ago, I was given a copy of The Crying of Lot 49 by my son to past the time. As I slipped in and out of mildly hallucinatory dreams I could sometimes scarcely distinguish reality from my intravenous lidocaine induced quest as Oedipa Maas driving through a surrealistic Southern California, the land of my youth.
