Sudan: Foreign minister notes "positive signs" in relations with USA
Text of report by Sudanese newspaper Al-Khartoum, in Arabic, on March 13

Sources have told Al-Khartoum that the US envoy has informed the foreign minister about the measures being taken by the new US administration in its foreign policy, saying that Khartoum was looking forward to national consensus, political reform, improving human rights conditions, ending the civil war, which would have a positive response from Washington, since it was disturbed by the ongoing civil war in Sudan.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister said there were positive signs in Sudanese-US relations but it was too early to comment on the USA's relations with Khartoum because the new US administration had not yet appointed an assistant secretary of state for African affairs responsible for implementing US policy in Africa.
