I agree. People thought I was a crackpot warning of an impending disaster in the equities market. At the top I tried to get people to sell enough options to pay off their house. Very few sold, and I doubt many sold heavily. Ocassionally I hear a murmur of regret, but most have been very casual about it. I myself let hundreds of thousands slip away, though sold heavily again when blow off support caved. It was still decent money though. I have even heard tales that some didn't sell anything.

There are people now asking me if they should short. My easy answer is to steer them clear of the stock market. So, there are most certainly mixed signals from the sentiment polls, at least on an anecdotal level. Some will just dollar cost average and end up with returns comparable to tax exempt bonds, others will sell the bottom, and still others will mis-time the market until they are broke, on both the short and long side.

Is there a good thread to read war stories about this debacle? Or will the Dow need to join the party for real?
