On Monday, we go live with TopTick SquawkBox Trader's Club, a real time voice/text chat hosted by me and Mike Bruns, along with the regulars
from ispec - all by donation.

Excuse me for being cynical...but how is this any different then the present pay for chatroom setup? I would understand a "donation" to be optional completely, let alone the amount. But...

You entered an amount
that was too low. The
smallest payment possible
is $25.00

It seems all this fanfair about going to "donations" only is little more then attempting to reprice a service that was charging above what the market will bare(24 subscribers only @$50), while at the same time trying to get around the current uprising against gurus soliciting for clients on SI, and trying to take advantage of the recent troubles here of a competitor. Interesting, even a $25 week "donation" is a higher amount then the suspended guru is charging, with what seems to be by the program schedule a much more limited effort. The donation also must be made in advance...before seeing if the service is worth contribution too. Limited, gentle soliciting is one thing, but this attempt to spin "we only want to help" while people associated with the servcie fall over themselves congratulating each other is a bit much. Clearly the attempt is to generate subscriber revenue, even only $24*50 a week is $60,000 US a year...to join a chat hosted on a free Yahoo club...not a bad gig IMHO. Taking shots at other gurus(who seem to at least offer a free look) while promoting this disengenious "donation" scheme with the higher then thou attitude often seen here "We don't need subscriptions because we make our money trading" makes you look as bad as the rest.
