Dipy, I find it highly unlikely that dividends will be increased in a falling stock environment. Falling stock prices will occur due to deteriorating fundamentals. If anything already low dividends will have to be slashed. Many companies severely deteriorated their balance sheets due to their stock buybacks in the 1990's. As has been duly written in publications like the Economist, his will this will come to haunt them in the future as earnings fall and cash becomes scarce. As far as tech companies go, don't get me started...I was only talking about the old economy...
