I commute from VA to MD, and this is where I am seeing the effect. Opposite commute is not much changed from what I can see, perhaps regional differences from VA to MD.

Retail sales are still strong, but that will change as realization dawns that Dow 10K will be a fond memory by Xmas.

Real estate will be the last bubble to pop.

I believe that regional economic activity has slowed, but that has not translated to major layoffs, or sharp decreases in retail spending (yet). Those events will happen, of that I am sure.

I am hoping we get a nice rebound on the averages to resistance, for example a pop on Naz from 1750 to 2150 or so. I will be shorting that with both long term LEAPS and shorter time-frame trades to fix profits.

My long term target on Naz is well below 2000.

I think 1500 is a given.

1150 is very possible.

I would not be surprised at 500-800.

It will take time, though, perhaps another 12-24 months.
