And the companies themselves through IPOs and secondaries.

Quite a few Tech companies hold big sums of cash reserves, the interest on which is a big portion of the bottom line results.
Side note, from comparing the balance sheet of major tech and old economy companies, the general picture is that the techs are better prepared to handle a big economic slowdown. Also CSCO is trading at the same P/E as CL and KO. IMO downside now is not bigger for CSCO, if the economy is headed towards that big depression, and if it's not, then upside for CSCO is surely greater.
If I was forced to take a spread between CSCO and CL/KO, I'd take CSCO long and CL/KO short.
