JDN,
I dont agree--too expensive.
The working poor, even at the 15% bracket currently pay total tax on their labor of 15+15(ss&medicare)+ 3%(state) +3%(average sales tax after food omitted which they pay in full because they need to spend everything they earn). For those that touch the 28% bracket add 13% to that total--thats 50%.
These people need relief from these taxes, then other rates need reduction a la bush, then death tax reform not repeal.
More importantly for cap gains tax is the removal of the short term/long term distinction with all transactions being taxed at the current 20% or at ones bracket whichever is lower. I would trade that number up as high as 25% to make sure top brackets can be reduced to 33%. There should be full deductibility of losses(no 3000 limitation). Also, perhaps inflation should be taken into account as per gains/losses. mike
