Well, in that case, welcome back, sober Jeff.
As you know, I worked in the brokerage industry's bowels for a long time, and have seen the abusive antics of many a drunken trader and corporate financier. It's not my cup of tea, as I believe disciplined civility, especially in times of dire stress, is the only thing that stops us from killing each other.
As for shorting, well, what about the longs who have been selling it all the way down - even if it's "only" forced margin liquidation? In my experience, after a big parabolic move up, there are no shorts left, since they were all killed on the move up. That's the real reason for lack of bids.
I for one make no moral judgements about long or short. I am simply a trader who uses price and volume to trade. Any personal opinion is sure to cloud judgement concerning trading, and cause the trader to lose perspective, IMHO.
