The reason you haven't heard (and won't hear) a clear explanation is that, IMHO, he doesn't want to admit that he and his fellow bankers were trying to crater the economy to help Bush get elected. If the prosperity had been continuing, Gore's chances would have been improved -- and it wouldn't have taken much of a difference to swing the election.

But that's JMHO..
