Do not MMs invest deposits in high yield "Risky"bonds.I have read,perhaps on this thread that several banks have had to buy in such debt from MMs to avoid them going below1$ @ at a loss to some other arm of the bank.
On the same note banks fail and if your money is not in an insured account bad luck.
If your main concern is protecting your wealth you may just be content to accept 1% on your deposit.
