Sarmad: They are using "purchasing power parity" as their yardstick for measuring the economy -- giving them a figure of $3,800 per capita per year. Unadjusted the figure would be more like $1,200 -- in other words they are "adjusting" real gdp in a way that makes China look like it is 3 times bigger than it really is. But your point is well taekn -- China has been growing. I wonder what adjustments they will make as they realize the difference between "reported" output and "real" output in bankrupt government-owned factories. But at least they have been growing while Japan has not.
