SO WHY WAS KENNEDY KILLED?

One year earlier we came closer to nuclear war than at any other time in the Cold War.
And then Kennedy was killed.
And you (rich4eagle) and I both think agencies of the US government HAD to be involved. How else could the cover-up have been so successful for so long.
Given that the international situation was still one of major nuclear confrontation, who would kill the President of the Unites States?
And WHY?
