Re: According to this article, Intel's price for this product is quite a bit higher than $150 - in fact - it is $722

Sometimes there is a big difference between list prices and what the seller receives. The computer below has a TFT (active matrix) LCD, a motherboard, a 10 gig (good sized for a notebook) hard drive, 128 meg ram, CD, floppy, carrying case, and lithium battery. It retails for $1,449. There is no way Intel is getting anywhere near $700 for the CPU. They aren't getting anywhere near $300 for the CPU.

And they used to get a lot of money for mobile CPUs.

Well, their goal of making it harder for AMD go enter the market will certainly be achieved - but at what cost? And what does this do to their ability to subsidize competition with AMD on the desktop with mobile sales? And where will they get the money to pay for $3 Billion they lose every year trying to buy their way into the networking business? And where does the $7.5 Billion they need come from? Intel can't cut back on capex, they have to build new FABs that can compete with AMD's SOI/Copper/.13 that comes on line in Dresden this fall. Intel is still trying to get their first copper FAB going, and they're 6 months away from having to compete with copper on SOI from a company that's been doing volume copper for the last year.
