Well, since I do not support the "normalization" of homosexuality, but only a reasonable degree of tolerance, I am not sure what we are arguing about. Not all deviations from the norm are equally amenable to treatment or rebuke, and not all are equally harmful to society. If homosexuality were "all the rage", there might be something to protect ourselves from, but the current figures show those practicing the "lifestyle" to be at about 2%, with an upward limit of 5%, and it does not seem to be spreading.
Anyway, I am not sure of the extent to which one wishes to push the "human identity and origin" line. Sure, without sexual bipolarity, there are no more little humans, but that would only require bisexuality to accomplish. Human identity? Well, that is a difficulty. Even granting that homosexuality is a defect, of whatever origin, it is not clear that it has more to do with identity than, say, retardation or dementia, and we would not think of treating either class of persons with contempt or hostility, and thus make their lives more difficult. |
