You make some good points but.....

1. I did not make up Silicon Investor's terms of use; they have been in place for a long time and were the reason I (and many others) paid a lot of money to join this website. If you moved into a private neighborhood that had strict residential association rules against putting up Christmas lights in the windows of houses, and one day your neighbor filled his windows with blinking Christmas lights, would you begrudge someone else in the neighborhood for complaining about it? A community only exists when EVERYONE respects the established rules; otherwise, it breaks down.

2. Your opinion that "people don't have to see her ads if they don't want to" is not true. Posts on SI are filled with links to other posts; I originally saw one of the "ads" in question after following a link in an interesting post on an entirely unrelated thread. In an interlinked community like this, no thread is insulated from any other. Why are the major television networks prohibited from broadcasting certain words or X-rated scenes? You don't have to watch, right? The answer is that viewers don't want to see objectionable material simply from channel surfing; they want to be able to CHOOSE when and if they see that material. The same concept applies here; I do not want to be bombarded with aggressive marketing and links to outside pay sites simply as a result of following a few links in posts that interest me.
