No argument here, but they aren't free either. And 10 gig in a notebook isn't bad at all. 128 meg RAM is actually pretty good.
And it's a lithium ion battery.
What do you think gross margins are in such a unit, and what do you think the listed components cost.
Whatever's left can cover that 1GHZ mobile CPU - and what's left isn't any $700, or $500, or $300.
Dan
My guess, is they're using a cheaper "Desktop" Chip.
A Lithium Ion Battery is standard, not special. A 13.3" Screen is Sub-Standard, A 10MHz HD is Sub-Standard, 128MB RAM is Minimum, A 24X CD ROM is Laughable.
Intel sells their chips to a distributor, which resells them to this vendor. Unlike AMD, who makes "Backdoor Discounts" to their distributors, Intel's list price is what the distributor pays.
And the saddest part Dan, is at least you didn't used to be so pathetic, that you had to search around for the cheapest PC you could find, and then hold it up as an example of MicroProcessor ASP's. You're really sliming along, on your belly, down in the muck, now aren't you. It's a real shame. A pathetic shame.
