Bank of Japan cuts interest rate to zero

TOKYO, Mar 19, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- The Bank of
Japan on Monday reinstated a zero-percent interest rate policy in an effort to
increase consumer buying. The Bank of Japan said it would boost commercial bank
reserves, which will help push short term interest rates to zero percent,
according to the Kyodo News.
