LONDON, March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- New ICO Global Communications plans to launch a satellite on an Atlas IIAS vehicle from Cape Canaveral, Florida, in early June.
The satellite, built for ICO by Boeing Satellite Systems, is one of 14 currently under contract for construction by BSS. The launch will be managed by International Launch Services.
The satellite, destined for a medium-Earth orbit at a height of 10,390 kilometers, will serve as part of the initial testing of the integration of New ICO's space and ground systems.

New ICO acquired the assets of ICO Global Communications (Holdings) Limited, established in January 1995 to provide global mobile personal communications services by satellite. ICO Global Communications was listed on Nasdaq in July 1998. The stock was suspended from trading when the company filed for Chapter 11 protection on August 27, 1999. ICO emerged from Chapter 11 protection on May 17, 2000. New ICO will offer the satellite equivalent of third-generation (3G) wireless services, including mobile voice, wireless Internet and other packet-data services. New ICO is based in London.<<
