California is going to have a dreadful summer. Not just the heat, the lack of power. . . .unless something RADICAL is done immediately.

I have a close friend, who is a shut-in in Palm Springs who is accustomed to paying $500 electric bills for his 2 bedroom villa. But this summer he may have difficulty getting power at any price. And in Palm Springs, that is a health hazard of major levels. With no air conditioning or swamp cooler, his house would move within 10 degrees or less of the outside temperature. Now that doesn't sound too bad in March, when temperatures are in the 80's. But beginning the first week of April, temperatures there can pass 100 by 9am! And temperatures of 120 to 130 are commonplace in the summer.

Now multiply that one little problem by all those in similar situations with the people within the Coachella Valley. Then multiply that figure by the countless communities throughout California . . . . and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they are on the verge of an energy crises as has never been seen in this country before.

When I lived there, I had to send all my employees home during power outages. No power, no work. And in many companies, no A/C, no work. I recall refrigerator trucks pulling up. . .and people moving inside to continue with their work. I remember many elderly buying tickets to cheap movie theatres to escape summer heat, until theatres cut back on power too. . . .so theatres were filled with sweating patrons.

It is March 19th and California has resumed rolling blackouts and has declared a stage III emergency. What will April, May, June, July, August, September and October bring?

This is going to sound way off-the-wall. . . .but if this crises is not SOLVED in California. . .completely. . . . we will see a mass exodus from California to any other state over the summer.

California makes it hard on those who wish to live there . . . .and even harder on those who wish to leave there.

Let's see now. . . .U-Haul, Budget, Ryder, etc. should do well. And what a time to introduce fuel cells for homes and businesses!! Who wouldn't want one?
