I believe that, the Japanese have been running the printing presses with no real effect. If you look, I bet that their national debt and deficit spending is among the greatest in the Industrialized world. I agree they need to monetise bad debts in the banking community (ala RTC). I repeat - Central Banks may be able to control inflation, but they have a very poor history in ending deflationary periods (why Greenspan is in favor of tax cuts?).
