JJ: I share your 'jerky' concerns for PowerNow, since it (in theory anyway) could be changing frequency/voltage constantly while in auto mode. As long as it isn't like waiting for a 52x CD-ROM helicopter (TM ptanner?) to power-up it will probably be fine (i.e. unnoticeable). Yes, you are right - the jerky-thing isn't as much of an issue with Intel's SpeedStep (although, from my understanding, SpeedStep2 will be subject to pretty much the same thing). Not that it's necessarily an issue with PowerNow! either, as I said ;)) Btw, things brings up an interesting thing: I NEED POWERNOW! FOR MY CDROM!!! I have quite a few movies on CDs (better image quality than video tapes, smaller and cheaper), but I can't play them directly from the CDROM drive (well, actually a DVD drive) since the 52x rotations make way too much noise. And I _know_ it doesn't need to spin at anything near full speed to play the damned movie. And that actually makes it even worse, because it keeps spinning up and down since it gets so far ahead of itself. (no, I don't watch movies on a computer monitor - I have a good TV-out-enabled video card). -fyo
