Is deflation around the corner?

We constantly alternate between worrying about inflation and worrying about deflation. Looking at a few of the profit warnings from grocers such as Albertson's and fast-food outfits like Wendy's, I wonder if deflation is around the corner. In particular Wendy's says that its profits were down because its competitors cut prices...

Going forward, who benefits most from a deflationary environment? Tech companies, perhaps? Because they always have had to deal with the problem of falling prices. LT Bonds and even cold cash under the mattress will be great investments in such a scenario but I wonder if any sector of the stock market can be used to diversify a deflation-proof portfolio.
