The Cole was not bullying anyone.
The mere act of steaming into port is seen as provocative by some of the people there. Imagine if Arabs kept a fleet stationed off our coast.
it was done to try to save lives
Yes, the old "we must kill them in order to save them" argument.
It isn't "defensive" to have ourselves spread around the globe, especially when we face no military threat whatsoever. We go around looking for trouble, then we're shocked when one of the many enemies we have made decides to retaliate. Perhaps it was payback for the bombing of the aspirin factory.
Asking the Right Questions by Michael Peirce
A military newsletter to which I subscribe posed the following two questions to readers:
Do you think the USS Cole bombing could have been prevented?
Are our forces vulnerable to sabotage and terrorism by political neglect?
Upon reflection, I realized that asking questions like that is not only a mistake, it inadvertently beats the war drum and closes minds to the real issues at hand. These questions were addressed to military men – serving and veterans. The newsletter is quite credible and put out by Colonel Hackworth whose column you can see regularly on WorldNetDaily.com.
Up until now, I’ve rarely disagreed with the good Colonel and would cheerfully fight along side of him. The one time we failed to agree previously was on the issue of conscription. Yes, Colonel – I know quite as well as you that our kids are a mess and our military is a mess – the solution however, is not to strengthen the power of government. That after all, is what got us into this mess!
Why don’t we address the two questions quoted above and then consider the questions we should be asking. That the bombing could have been prevented is of course patently obviously. As John Wayne put it, "minding my own business is a way of life…" Unfortunately for the crew of our ship, it is not a way of life for the midgets we have in Washington. As they strain their bodies impotently, reaching for a stature that will always elude them – they illegally expose our forces to attack. Simply put – our ship had no business in that port – had it been defending the United States coastline only an aggressor could have challenged it and would have met with a proper response.
It seems odd to our mindless bureaucrats that people in the middle east consider us aggressors. Perhaps if some middle eastern nation started putting warships along our coastline the reality of the situation would come home to them.
There is another point to address here. The question of cowardice. As a fighting man, I’m sick to the point of nausea, of hearing gutless pukes like Bill Clinton refer to the terrorists who wacked our ship as "cowards!" Cowards do not willingly die fighting for for their beliefs. Clinton, who believes in nothing, will change his opinion to fit the latest poll. The "terrorists" stood to attention and died like soldiers. While I despise them for killing our men, I damn sure respect them.
The second question is very dangerous. "Are we vulnerable to terrorism?" Of course we are. Everybody is. The supply of men willing to blow themselves up for a cause is rather limited, and we should be very glad of that. But such men do exist and as long as we tap dance around the middle east, those men are going to consider us as enemies.
What is dangerous about that question is the implied answer. That all of us should jump on board of the ship of state and stand up and declare our need for more military force. Which of course, is the absolute dumbest statement that could be made. Our military is weak in many ways – of that there is no argument. They have become the servants of the nanny state and lab rats for every government wacko’s idea of how people should be as opposed to how they really are. The money they need for small unit training has been squandered on both "peacekeeping" initiatives, and on the bombing and murder of people with whom we are not at war. Let’s be real honest here and state the harsh facts of life: our government is using the military to enforce a depraved and disgusting view of life here at home; and to murder others abroad in our name. The real danger is that military men jerk their knees and demand blood. There probably should be some blood spilled – but those folks overseas are not the ones who have turned America into a sick joke. It’s time to focus on the real threat.
As military men, veterans and/or concerned citizens - it's time to ask ourselves some hard questions. Some real questions. Like what is our military mission in the world today? Because it damn sure ain't about defending you and me! They are corrupting the military into a sick, lame organization that is strong enough only to fight for politically correct causes here in America. We are in tremendous trouble right now and it's time to act before the military becomes a big fascist police force. And like the SA, it will soon be full of homosexuals who will kill for the state. Am I exaggerating?
We murdered Christians in large numbers in Kosovo and Serbia in the support of Islamic narco-terrorists. While no supporter of the illegal and unconstitutional "war on drugs," I am well aware that the murderers who ordered that action spend much of their time pontificating against the use of narcotics. Can no one spot the hypocrisy here? When the Serbs get around to wacking out some of our troops, am I supposed to rise up in righteous anger and demand that the government kill more of them?
Our whole military is geared toward fighting terrorists! Where did our armor heavy force go? "Wheels replace tracks;" yeah sure, as long as we're fighting Americans! If we start whining for more anti-terrorist stuff, we'll get it. And with it, we'll get more Waco and Ruby Ridge incidents! Watch out - your home can easily become a "compound" if you rub Janet Reno the wrong way. And that was army guys that set up the kill at Waco! But they were "only following orders," right?
The harsh reality of all this is that our government is reforming the armed forces as an instrument of their dark political agenda. They could care less if we can fight some foreign power on equal terms. They believe their own ludicrous propaganda about America as a "superpower" and a global economy that will restrain "civilized" countries from any more major confrontations. Meanwhile – Albright and her troop of buffoons dress up in costumes (this really happened) and perform skits mocking the North Koreans and Chinese.
Once our military prepared always to fight a two front war. Here is a message from Combined Ops – the cold war is over. The job of the military is to defend the United States and our constitutional republic! At this key task, they are failing miserably.
There are lots of women in the military now, and Al Gore has promised to turn the army into a Disneyland for homosexual activists. Those who protest and claim that this will degrade our effectiveness as a fighting force don’t get it and that’s inexcusable. We must learn to ask the real questions. What war is our government preparing to fight? If it’s obvious that a feminized military has no chance in a gutter fight with the North Koreans or Chinese, then who on earth can we be arming against?
Our military is being prepared to fight us. It is quite that simple.
There is nothing the government likes better than when the tough old NCOs who are the backbone of our forces take early retirement. Yeah, we’d have no chance in a real war but they really do not care! Military force in the global age (to the silly boys and girls in Washington) is about pushing buttons and blowing up churches and schools in faraway places. That, and preserving order. We are ruled now by an out of control apparatus that will destroy us if we do not stop it, and soon.
Here is a question that thinking people must ask themselves. What if the men who blasted our ship were relatives of the man killed when Clinton bombed the aspirin factory in Sudan? Would they not be justified? What if they are Iraqis who watched their child or grandchild die from lack of medical supplies, a situation Mrs. Albright has publicly declared to be "worth it"? Would they be justified? For the terminally obtuse, let me make it real clear with an analogy that you can’t miss: harm my grandson and you will die. No matter who you are or where you are. A further hint: I’m not the only person who feels that way. How many people’s grandchildren have died in Iraq as a result of our embargo? Last count was up in the hundreds of thousands.
Perhaps then, we should look at the real questions that need to be addressed. While we were busy "projecting power" in silly and fruitless endeavors overseas, our country was turned into a great big cesspool by the very people who commanded the military. For our military is commanded by civilians. They have purged the fighting men, much as Stalin did, and replaced them with Colonel Hackworth’s aptly named "perfumed princes." Do I want to give these people more power or less? Is America under attack by foreign countries? Nope. Are we under attack by domestic traitors? We damn sure are! Time for a little common sense? It bloody well is way past time for that!
Our military budget is huge. If our men are unable to obtain ammo to test fire their weapons or get spare parts for their equipment, we better wake up real quick and use a little common sense. Because more money is not the answer! There is plenty of money for our defense and that money is going somewhere. It’s going into the bogus causes of treasonous leaders who have placed our men in over one hundred countries, in direct contradiction of the intentions of the true patriots who founded this country. American soldiers exist to defend the United States: period the daggone end!
We have, we are told, commitments to foreign countries and we must honor them. Let’s consider those commitments. Can Europe defend itself? Yes. Should I care? Well, most of us left Europe for some pretty good reasons. Let ‘em take care of themselves!
And black Africa? Bluntly, much more help from us and there will be no more black Africa.
Should we mess around in Asia? Didn’t we try that recently? Isn’t fifty thousand dead men enough? Now the war mongers are whining about China. If China is a threat, then arrest Bill Clinton for treason – he gave our military secrets to them, they didn’t have to steal them. Yet the same folks who want to fight the Chinese seem to love Billy Clinton. With the exception of course, of the otherwise sane Pat Buchanan.
So what of Israel? Well what of it? Unlike many of my colleagues, I’m a big supporter of Israel. For a very simple and fundamental reason: they supported me when my back was against the wall and the communists were steamrollering Rhodesia. (along with lots of help from Jimmy Carter and the pathetic remnants of the British Empire). But despite my personal support and prayers for Israel, as a true American patriot, I cannot suggest that we involve ourselves in that mess. The Jews have tanks, jets, gunship helicopters and nuclear weapons. They can take care of themselves. Equally, there are a billion or so Muslims who should they ever get their act together, could take care of themselves too. The point being – let them handle their own affairs.
To American military men and veterans, I say this, and I know it’s awful blunt and will no doubt offend. Wake up! The enemy is here, at home – not some silly guy with a towel on his head. The enemy is wearing a suit and tie, and he is destroying your country, that very country that so many of you fought for. The real question is a simple one, and a critical one for our future: are we going to tolerate this, or are we going to jump on the jingoist bandwagon and slaughter foreigners while sleazy politicians laugh up their sleeve at us?
