re: "Bad news for semis only means that the worst is over"

4/00: there is no reason for the semis to be down, this is just random movement within the rising channel. Buy the dip.
7/00: there isn't any fall-off in demand for chips, this sell-off is totally unwarranted, most of these stocks are undervalued, at a PEG <1, (using expected 2007 EPS in my calculation, and reasonable growth rates of 30-70%). Buy the dip.
9/00: OK, it looks like demand is going to fall off, but only in PC-related sectors. Telecom-related chip demand will pick up the slack. Buy the dip.
11/00: OK, we're going to have a fall-off in demand in all chip sectors, but only a slight decline. The valley will be shallow. And the stocks are really undervalued now. Buy the dip.
3/01: OK, the valley will be deep, but that means it's not going to be wide. Demand will pick up by July. Buy the dip, this is your last chance.
