Also may be worth taking into account Alan Abelson's counter to the "three rate cuts = recovery" argument in the recent Barron's: The previous easing trifectas commenced well into advanced economic difficulties - as when rates were being brought down down from 20% (yes, kids, you read right) in 81-2, or at the bottom of the recession and general stock massacre in '74.
